We trained the chicken to cross the road

Certificate II in RetailA customer service focus has been a core feature of the retail training program being rolled out across Nanda's Victorian stores by Futurum.

Futurum currently provides Nando's with project management and training services in Retail Traineeship Certificates II and III across 12 stores.

The Manager of the Nando's store at Highpoint Shopping Centre, Mr Pan Lay, says he can see real benefits from the trainee help program.

His staff have been involved since the store opened and they completed their Certificate II within 12 months. He is supporting their continuation through Certificate III because his staff have shown big improvements in customer service and their increased confidence means they use their initiative and take on more responsibility.

Mr Cameron George, Nando's Area Manager says "Futurum meets our need for high quality training, effective assessment and consistency. Futurum and Nanda's work in partnership to ensure consistency and efficiency. The staff that have completed the traineeships continue to grow with the company as well as the current trainees who are seeking more challenges and opportunities in the business."

Futurum's Project Manager for Nando's and key trainer, Ron Callaghan has an extensive background in customer service and says he can "see Nando's trainees improving all the time". Ron visits each store on flexible arrangements to conduct training around their needs. Training, while conducted on-the-job. He is mindful of the customer service environment and is adapted to Nando's requirements.

Nando's has been so delighted with Futurum's flexible training that they are looking to expand the program into NSW, Old and WA stores. Futurum will also be meeting Nando's additional training needs for Food Handling, First Aid Certificate for the workplace and accredited management training.
