The transport and logistics network is an integration network of ports, road, rail, freight, aviation and distribution channels within the economy and the industry 'is often considered a barometer for the overall strength of the economy'. The industry Skills Council predicts the amount of freight in Australia will double by 2020.The industry is characterised by diversity of mode, size, freight type, ownership, location, employees' skills and infrastructure requirements.
